The studio is finally finished! It's been a year and a half since I started the building process and has been very time consuming, but rewarding to design and contract this modern metal studio. Thanks to Sam at Creole Design for helping with the plans, and Jim Herd at Collaborative Projects for coming through on the kitchen trade out. I shot several residential kitchens for the Collaborative Projects' website a couple of years ago in exchange for design and full construction of the studio kitchen. The Brazil work will be on exhibit for an opening party planned for February. You can see more studio interiors on the contact section of my website.

In August of 07 I was in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil for two weeks on a self-assigned shoot. This work was created to promote my commercial and fine art photography. I had some really nice advertising assignments early in 07 that made this opportunity hard to pass up. Braulio Perdigao, my assignment producer in Houston had been coordinating my large production shoots for the past two years. He has a talent for finding talent and locating just about anything needed for a shoot. He suggested I meet him in Brazil during his 2 month family visit for a serious personal shoot. It didn't take long for us to decide on our home base of Rio De Janeiro. From this vibrant city, we could capture the flavor and diversity of the Brazilian culture. Braulio did an outstanding job of producing this assignment, from travel arrangements to getting access to a voodoo-style ceremony, and finding talent for a fashion shoot in Lapa. The gear I took included a Wista 4x5 field camera with a 150mm and 210 lens, Mamiya 7 with a 50mm and 80mm lens, Canon DSLR 1 ds mark 1 with 16 to 35mm, 24 to 105mm, and diana plastic cameras. The film I shot was fuji provia, fuji 160s, fuji acros and Ilford B&W. Provia was run strait and cross processed in C-41 for a gritty look.

Finally got around to updating my site. Added some new work to the lifestyle and portrait sections. Also created an entire new section of work from my Brazil trip. Thanks to Drew at Gesture Studio (gesturestudio.com) for the update. You can check out the award-winning site at felixsanchez.com
